New Student Orientation
FY26 HIGHLIGHTS:
New Student Orientation prepares students for academic and social engagement as members of the University of Georgia community. Through transition programs and resources, NSO provides information and experiences that support students and their families as they transition to college and life at UGA.
1875 transfer students
attended both small group sessions focused on UGA-specific opportunities, resources and strategies.
integrated ACTIVE LEARNING principles
into orientation curriculum and facilitation with the Office of Active Learning. This initiative involved offering training and development sessions for orientation presenters, as well as refining of orientation content to focus on learning and application over passive information transfer.
over 75% of first-year students
attended a student-facilitated session about the practical use of artificial intelligence at UGA. This session was partnered with the UGA Libraries and Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
strong partnerships
with the Office of the President and Office of Parent and Family Engagement to enhance the Parent and Family Reception, host a Family Hospitality Lounge and expand the session focused on annual parent and family engagement initiatives and philanthropic opportunities to include representatives from the Parent’s Leadership Council.
